Vijay continues his Bible survey tracing the grand theme of blessing throughout the Bible. When God created humans, he created them to be fruitful and to multiply, that they be blessed and be a blessing. But, the earliest accounts in the Bible show that humans are ‘fruitful’, that they do ‘multiply’, but in evil not in righteousness. In today’s sermon, Vijay traces the story starting from Abraham to the end of the OT. In Abraham, God promises to bless Abraham and make him a blessing to all the families of the earth. From Abraham emerges a nation, Israel, that is created by God for one purpose, to make God known to the ends of the earth and by doing so blessing all creation. He concludes with a challenge to remind followers of Christ to bless others even as we have been blessed by God.
